EXPECTED DECEMBER 2025
The year is 1929. You've saved your pennies and you're traveling to Chicago in style. There is no finer way than the Twentieth Century Limited. Although the beauty of streamlining still lay years ahead, most historians agree that the 1920s were the pinnacle of service and amenities aboard the most famous train in the world. Pulled by one of the Central's new Hudson’s, the Century featured a variety of sleeping accommodations as well as of dining and lounge cars which included a full set of staff from servers and porters to a secretary and even a barbershop. Passengers were assured they would travel in speed and style, arriving at their destination well rested and on time. Passenger lists included a who's who from the arts, business and politics, walking the red carpet to the train. The train was so popular during this decade that one Century was seldom enough. On average, the train ran in 3 sections, each way, daily: not including the Advance 20TH Century which preceded it. Each section was its own train, complete with all the same amenities. Consequently, the fleet of Pullman cars used varied daily depending on the customer’s bookings. Regardless of the cars, the matched Pullman Green consist was polished perfection from end to end. To help us relive those glorious years, Lionel has created a model train fitting of the 20THCentury. Led by our VISION Hudson, the six car consist includes four sound-equipped cars to provide you with the full traveling experience! Starting behind the locomotive, the combination baggage/lounge car catered to male passengers with its smoking lounge, stock ticker and sporting updates, secretary and barber shop (though the barber's services were available to both men and women.) In the Sleeping cars, Pullman porters assisted in making up berths and tending to a passenger's every need. In the Dining car, a full team of cooks and wait staff served fine dining on a rotating menu. Further back at the end of the train, the Observation lounge car had a more feminine touch, with wicker seating and full-service attendants trained in providing manicures. As the train travels along your railroad, you can activate each of the cars to hear the announcements, passenger and crew dialog with your Legacy remote. The locomotive too is loaded with features including road-number specific crew dialog, whistle steam and a swinging bell, and so much more! Just like the prototype, this train will keep you entertained for hours and ensure you arrive at the station with a smile on your face. Looking to expand your consist, or maybe build a second section? Don't worry, additional cars are also available separately. So, turn your clocks back 100 years and get ready to experience the 20TH Century in all its glory!
