The Broadway Limited HO Scale Heavyweight Business Car Observation is based on cars typically positioned as the rear of a passenger train which cars featured windows or a platform at the rear for passengers to enjoy the view. Beginning in the 1950s, American railroads widely phased out these cars as a cost-saving measure, eliminating the necessity to "turn" trains when departing from stub-end terminals. Railroads reserved only a few for special functions such as hauling special guests and railroad or government officials on inspection trips and more. For modelers of the 1920s to the 1960s, heavyweight passenger cars were also the norm behind steam and classic diesels. Into the postwar era heavyweights were common on secondary trains and could pinch-hit for similar streamlined cars. These detailed cars are the equipment modelers of the era need. They're loaded with detail inside and out, they feature lighted interiors for added interest and they ride on Pullman 2411 trucks.
