New York Central (Pacemaker, red, gray)

The N Scale USRA 40' Steel Boxcar from Broadway Limited is based on cars developed by New York Central and adopted by the United States Railroad Administration as a standard design. In 1922, the NYC began delivering the NYC Specification 486 steel boxcar. These became the second most populous steel boxcars on Americas railroads, second only to the PRR X29 cars. From the 1920s through the late 1950s, these cars could be found everywhere on the NYC system, as well as traveling in interchange almost everywhere in North America. This N Scale model features rectangular-panel roof, AB brakes, ARA U-section trucks, and a steel-grid running board along the top of the car. Cars feature corrugated or non-corrugated doors and 7-8 corrugated ends or Dreadnaught ends as appropriate for each roadname. Other features include metal wheelsets for use on Code 55 and larger rail, magnetic knuckle couplers and trucks which will negotiate curves as sharp as 9" radius.
